It's official. I have finally found the perfect blend of a lipstick meets lip balm product. I am a complete lip junkie and after years of testing out hundreds of "moisturizing" lipsticks I have finally found my all time fave! When the Revlon Lip Butters hit the shelves last year I thought that was it. Done deal. But I must say that Maybelline really hit the nail on the head with these lipsticks.
I first saw the collection at Ulta several weeks ago and I can't tell you how excited I was to see that Maybelline finally jumped on the bandwagon! To my surprise the display was hidden in the back of the store on the bottom shelf with every single color perfectly laid out and untouched. I picked out 6 shades that I will be reviewing for you today.
Maybelline describes these lipsticks as pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel without any heavy waxes or oils. The line contains 20 shades. Starting from a sheer nude all the way to a deep plum. I am also excited to announce that these will be part of their permanent collection. I recommend going to target where they retail for $5.99. At Ulta I paid $7.49/each!
Left to Right: Lust for Blush 25, Coral Ambition 35, Petal Rebel 60, Faint for Fuchsia 70, Berry Ready 85, Oh La Lilac 90
Lust for Blush is a perfect mauve nude lipstick.
Coral Ambition is a sheer peachy orange shade.
Petal Rebel is a cool toned light pink.
Faint for Fuchsia is a very dolly/lollipop pink.
This has a lot more pigment than the previous 3 colors.
Berry Ready is truly a perfect berry lipstick.
When applied it really gives my lips a "juicy" effect that I love.
Oh La Lilac is a very cool toned lavender shade.
This will definitely be a staple for spring!
I am a huge fan of the packaging. It's lightweight, slim and the cursive writing on the front looks very chic. Out of these 6 shades, Berry Ready 85 is the most opaque. The rest of the shades are more of a sheer wash of color and need 2-3 swipes for it to really show up on your lips. I do recommend exfoliating first, as some of the lighter colors can tend to accentuate cracks or dry patches on the lips. While I find these to be pretty moisturizing the one downfall is the lasting power. I maybe get 2 hours wear time before having to reapply. Regardless, I absolutely love them and I will definitely be picking up more colors from this collection!
Overall: 4/5 (only because of the lasting power)
Let me know if you have tried these out and which colors are your favorites!
